Woodstock Windfalls

On and off, Gary Trusty has been intrigued by the shape, beauty and function of bowls for nearly 25 years. After spending a decade creating them on a pottery wheel he took a break then returned to the pursuit, but on a lathe instead. His pottery endeavors taught him a great deal about balance and form. He took those lessons with him when he migrated to woodturning. Almost without exception, he works with native species of North America, and his stock is frequently downed logs found in the woods of Northern Virginia. Each of his creations is designed to exploit the natural beauty of the grain and figure, that special signature that drew him to this medium.
